Your July 23 article “North Jersey Jewish organizations win big with Homeland Security grants” correctly states that out of $1.45 million available for New Jersey nonprofit organizations to upgrade their security, a whopping $850,000 went to local institutions in our area. The fact that we were able to obtain the largest percentage of any community in the state is due directly to the hard work, knowledge, and skill of Alan Sweifach. He wears many hats. His official title as director of strategic planning and allocations does not do justice to this multi-talented and industrious UJA professional. He successfully shepherded this grant process (as he has on many other occasions) and walked us through the paperwork step by step. He was always patient and his insightful critiques were always on target. Our success is his.
