Ceremony to honor Mickey Marcus of Israel’s War for Independence

The American Veterans of Israel Legacy Corporation honors Mickey Marcus and American veterans/volunteers of Israel’s War of Independence. The 59th commemoration will be at West Point on Sunday, May 4, at 11 a.m., in the USMA Jewish Chapel; refreshments will be at 10. It will include a focus on Colonel David “Mickey” Marcus, a U.S. Army colonel, who became Israel’s first IDF General. The American hero of the 1948 Israeli War for Independence, a West Point graduate, is buried in the USMA at West Point. Recent American lone soldier veterans of the IDF who have fought in the most recent war will be recognized.

Attendees must bring an ID and go through a security check at the Visitor Control Center located at 2107 New South Post Road, in Highland Falls, N.Y.
