The Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies recently held its annual gala at Temple Israel and JCC in Ridgewood. Fred Nagler was the emcee and Rabbi Dr. Wallace Greene gave the d’var Torah.

Heidi and Seth Seigel-Laddy were the Parent Honorees. They have three children — Alyssa, who is a BCHSJS alumna; Kayla, a BCHSJS senior, and Spencer, a freshman.

Debora Lesnoy, the director of the Helen Troum Nursery School at Temple Beth Sholom in Fair Lawn and a teacher at the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/CBI, was honored as BCHSJS’ Educator of the Year.

Alla and Rabbi Dr. David Fine received the inaugural Walter Ramsfelder Exemplary Service award. Temple Israel’s Rabbi Fine is the president of the New Jersey Rabbinical Assembly and is the BCHSJS treasurer. Ms. Fine is on several committees at Temple Israel and on the BCHSJS dinner committee. The recently named service award is in memory of Walter Ramsfelder, a BCHSJS founder who served the school in various capacities for more than four decades.

BCHSJS’s graduating seniors were honored with a video presentation and senior Kayla Seigel-Laddy spoke. For more information, go to www.bchsjs.org.
