Architects will present their visions for the proposed Garden to Nurture Human Understanding on Teaneck’s Municipal Green on Thursday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m., at the Teaneck public library. They will represent both the Northern New Jersey Holocaust Memorial & Education Center and the Enslaved African Memorial Committee, as well as the library. This is the first of many multicultural events to be held under a grant from the New Jersey Council on the Humanities and the first event co-sponsored by the three groups.

Rodney Leon, who designed the African Burial Ground Memorial in Manhattan, will represent the Enslaved African Memorial Committee; Alan Hantman will represent the Northern New Jersey Holocaust Memorial & Education Committee; and Anthony Iovino will represent the Teaneck Public Library, which is committed to allocate space in the facility for indoor exhibits and technology to supplement the two group’s outdoor exhibits. New Jersey State Senator Loretta Weinberg and Teaneck’s Mayor Mohammed Hameeduddin will give opening remarks. The meeting is free and open to the public. www.eamcnj.org or nnjholocaustmemorial.org.
