“A World Within Worlds: The Music of Anthony Mordechai Tzvi Russell,” a musical performance and presentation, is performed by Anthony Russell, an award-winning singer and musician specializing in Yiddish song. He has created music from very diverse influences—from Yiddish art song, to African American Spiritual, from Chassidic melodies, to folk songs from the African American South. Russell and moderator Dr. Josh Kun, an award-winning cultural historian, will navigate through these rich worlds of sound from which Anthony creates his inventive interpretations. Free and open to the public, the event is presented by the Allen and Joan Bildner Center for the Study of Jewish Life at Rutgers University. It is the Abram Matlofsky Memorial Program supported by the Karma Foundation, and it is cosponsored by the Department of Music, Mason Gross School of the Arts. 7 p.m. Register: bildnercenter.rutgers.edu/events.
