Who’s telling whom?
In “The British dare to determine who is a Jew” (Nov.13), Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, an Orthodox Jew, eloquently expresses appropriate concern over the intrusion of the British courts into the definition of a Jew. However, as the Jewish father of three devotedly Jewish children of a non-Jewish mother, I cannot overlook the irony of an Orthodox Jew lamenting over someone else telling him who is a Jew and who isn’t.
