Congregation Kol HaNeshamah of Englewood will host a whisky and kosher wine tasting, featuring select single malt scotches, kosher wines, kosher sushi, and Israeli fare, plus silent and live auctions. It’s set for Saturday, March 2, at 8 p.m., at St. Paul’s Church in Englewood.

David Katzen, a serious single-malt maven, is the master of ceremonies. Since the late 1990s, Mr. Katzen has been sampling, collecting, and studying the world of single-malt scotch. Each year he hosts a private gathering known as “Shadow WhiskyFest” where he shares samples from his private collection, ranging in price from $70 to hundreds of dollars. This year, as part of a fundraiser for Congregation Kol HaNeshamah, David has agreed to share his expertise and select choice whiskies for attendees to sample.

For those who prefer wine, there will be a tasting of select kosher wines, hosted by Linwood Wine — Hudson Lights of Fort Lee, with Jeff Schecter, the store’s wine manager, leading the tasting.

Tickets are $90 per guest. For reservations, email RSVP@KHNJ.ORG or call (201) 816-1611. All proceeds to benefit Kol HaNeshamah.
