"We in the killin’ Nazi business. And cousin, business is a-boomin’."
Quentin Tarantino’s latest film “Inglourious Basterds” opens today and The Big Lipowsky cannot wait for this revenge fantasy flick.
Tarantino spins a tale of a group of American soldiers (mostly Jews)Â – led by Brad Pitt, who’s character has an affinity for Nazi scalps – who run around France brutally taking revenge on Nazis.
As a longtime fan of Tarantino’s work, I expect nothing less than brilliance from this movie, given Tarantino’s attention to detail and talent for dialogue. The movie has earned rave reviews from Roger Ebert (Clicky, clicky) and an 88 percent rating on Rottentomatoes.com. Of course, some critics – such as Manohla Dargis in The New York Times – were not as thrilled with the movie, especially with its 2 1/2-hour running time.

Actor/director Eli Roth, who plays a bat-wielding basterd, said during the Cannes Film Festival that this movie is like Jewish porn because of its fantasy revenge theme. The Big Lipowsky is heading to “Inglourious Basterds” Saturday night (and probably at least once again next week) and will update you all on how Tarantino’s fantasy plays out.
