Wayne shul sponsors child advocacy Shabbat
Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers attended services last month at Temple Beth Tikvah in Wayne. Jessica Mickley, Passaic County CASA’s community outreach coordinator, talked about the purpose of the national program and how it is seeking volunteers in the Passaic County area.
She said, “As a CASA volunteer advocate, you are the eyes and ears of the court and ensure that a child or sibling group’s best interests are spoken up for. In Passaic County alone, more than 625 children enter the foster care system each year. Only 30 percent currently have the benefit of an advocate due to limited numbers of volunteers. Our goal is to ensure every child’s voice is heard and that every child entering foster care has access to a CASA. You can make this possible by volunteering. “
