WIN, the Wayne Interfaith Network, a coalition of volunteers from houses of worship and service organizations in the greater Wayne area, provides ongoing supplies of nonperishable food and other basic necessities to Wayne residents. The pantry’s supplies are critically low and since children will be home for the summer and so will not get school lunches, donations are being requested as soon as possible.
Bags of nonperishable food and other basic necessities, including paper goods, toiletry items, and cleaning products, are requested. Limit donations to regular sizes, not super sizes, and check that all expiration dates are current. Plastic or aluminum containers are better than glass. Items must be nonperishable, with no dents or cracks in cans or bottles and no torn or open boxes or containers.
Bring items to the Wayne YMCA, 1 Pike Drive — donors can use the Jewish Family Service entrance — or to the Wayne Public Library’s Preakness branch. Anyone who needs food can call Regina Parks at (973) 694-1800, ext. 3281. Groups and organizations planning to collect food and other basic necessities can call (973) 595-1900, go to www.winfoodpantry.org, or email email@example.com.
