Kippalive is a mainstay of the Israeli religious acappella scene (is it big enough to be called a ‘scene’? Yes!).
They’ve been trying to develop the most perfect acappella version of kabalat shabbat – welcoming the Sabbath prayers – and have settled on this one.
What’s interesting is that Orthodox Jews pretty much do all their weekend singing acappella due to rabbinic prohibitions proscribing stringed instruments.
