Dr. David Podles, an internationally acclaimed concert violinist, performs live. He’s presenting a selection of Broadway hits by Jewish composers, including Gershwin, Bernstein, Loewe, Kern, Rodgers, Kandor, Strouse, and Bock, at Beth Haverim Shir Shalom of Mahwah. The program, on Sunday, June 13, at 4 p.m., will be played live, outdoors, with socially distanced seating. Masks must be worn upon entry and exit. It’s sponsored by the JCC of Northern NJ and the Mahwah shul.
Dr. Podles is from Riga, Latvia. He has won three prestigious international competitions and received a Ph.D. in music from the conservatory in Riga. He’s performed in symphony, chamber, opera, and ballet theater orchestras, sometimes as a soloist, and he’s toured across Russia, including the Bolshoi and Kirov, throughout Europe, and across the United States. He has performed at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the 92nd Y, and at Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center.
Tickets are $10 per person before June 1, $15 per person from June 1 to Friday, June 11, and include the live performance, snacks, and soft drinks. They will not be sold at the concert; they must be bought in advance.
