Temple Emanu-El of Closter celebrated the culmination of its five-year Campaign for the Next Generation with a special donor dedication followed by a celebratory breakfast last week. The campaign raised $5 million to beautify the synagogue’s daily chapel and construct a new space in order to meet the needs of its growing membership.
“Grandparents, their children, and grandchildren celebrated together in the chapel to learn about the stained glass windows and to celebrate the past, present, and future of our synagogue,” said Andi Wolfer, campaign co-chair and the shul’s first vice president.
Funds raised allowed the synagogue to buy new stained glass windows, remodel an unfinished basement into a multipurpose space now known as the Promenade, reconfigure existing office space, and pay off its mortgage. The Promenade was renovated into a technologically integrated, state-of-the art facility that will be used for High Holy Day services, special occasions, and adult and youth educational programs.
