Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey is gearing up for “Supplies for Success.” That’s the back-to-school program that provides backpacks to vulnerable students in Bergen, Passaic, and Hudson counties. This year’s goal is 2,800 backpacks; 1,000 more than last year. Sari Gross is the Volunteer Resource Center chair and Anat Lavie, Leslie Smith, and Marla Zagelmeyer are the Supplies for Success co-chairs.
There are three ways to help. 1. Host a pop-up in your home — pick up supplies for 48 backpacks from the federation during the week of August 2, and return the assembled backpacks during the week of August 16. The registration fee is $50. 2. Become a program sponsor and have your name or your company’s name featured on the program’s marketing materials. There are $500, $1,000, and $1,500+ sponsorships available. 3. Donate backpacks for kids. A donation of $360 fills a classroom with backpacks; $36 pays for one backpack. It’s a nice way to recognize favorite teachers — make a donation in their honor.
