Mosab Hassan Yousef, author of “Son of Hamas” and the inspiration for the award-winning documentary “The Green Prince,” spoke to a sold-out crowd for a Patron of the Arts program at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly. As the son of one of the founding members of Hamas, one of the world’s most dangerous terrorist organization, Mosab Yousef was an integral part of the movement and was imprisoned many times by Shin Bet, the Israeli intelligence service. When he discovered that Hamas was torturing its own people, he embarked on a new path that endangered him and his family, and eventually led him to seek political asylum in America. He talked about what it was like growing up in Ramallah in the 1980s and how the violence he witnessed impacted him.

Maggie Kaplen and the Kaplen Foundation were the program’s presenting sponsor.
