Sheldon Adelson doubles contribution to Boteach to $1 million
The Wall Street Journal is quoting sources close to Sheldon Adelson as saying that the casino billionaire and Birthright Israel philanthropist has given an additional $500,000 to a political action committee supporting Rabbi Shmuley Boteach’s race for Congress from New Jersey’s Ninth District.
That brings Adelson’s contribution to the independent Patriot Prosperity PAC to $1 million. He also contributed $10,000 directly to the campaign.
Independent political action committees cannot coordinate with the candidates they support.

According to Opensecrets.org, which collates reports made to the Federal Election Committee, the PAC has spent more than $14,000 on “media production” with longtime Republican ad man Chris Mottola, and more than $450,000 on “media purchase” with Target Enterprises, a Republican-focused Los Angeles-based “strategic media placement company” specializing in political advertising.
The Patriot Prosperity PAC also has spent more than a quarter million dollars on behalf of Joe Kyrillos, New Jersey’s Republican candidate for Senate.
