Sharsheret will hold its annual tristate benefit on Thursday, July 20, at 6:15 p.m. at Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood. The evening will raise critical funds to provide free counseling, education, and financial subsidies for women, men, and families touched by breast or ovarian cancer, or at increased genetic risk for it.

The gathering, a barbecue dinner with a siyum service and program, will include recognition of “remarkable individuals whose inspiring efforts and experiences provide hope and resilience in the face of cancer,” Sharsheret’s CEO, Elana Silber, said.

The evening will be dedicated to the memory of Linda Pulitzer on her 15th yahrzeit; her daughter, Sharsheret’s vice president Jordanna Nadritch, will be recognized for her dedication to the cause. Ms. Nadritch, an attorney, works as a Sharsheret peer supporter, developed the Sharsheret Power Pals Pre-Mastectomy Program, cochaired the annual benefit, ran with Team Sharsheret in the 2016 and 2023 New York City half marathons, and sits on Sharsheret’s board of directors.

The Maimonides Award will be presented to Dr. Mark Sultan, a clinical professor of surgery at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, who specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and breast.

Ben Strulowitz, a founding member of the Sharsheret Young Professionals Circle, will accept the Next Gen Award. He began his involvement in 2013, as a senior at New York University, when he joined Team Sharsheret for the New York City Triathlon. Mr. Strulowitz facilitated the first Young Professionals Networking event, assembled corporate groups to prepare holiday care packages for Sharsheret, and won a corporate Movember Beard Growth Competition on behalf of Sharsheret. He also has addressed high school students to raise awareness about health and communicate the importance of committing to a cause.

The service will be led by longtime Sharsheret supporters Becky and Daniel Wolf, who are part of the Sharsheret Jewel family.

Event supporters include Presenting Sponsor Barbara and Fred Kort Foundation; Benefactors Daiichi-Sankyo, Kings Pharmacy, and Merck; Champion Pfizer Oncology; Ambassador Sponsors Immunogen, Maidenbaum, and Neuberger Berman; and community partners Daily Giving and Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority.
