Sharsheret schedules webinar on genetic testing recommendations
Sharsheret will present a webinar, “New Recommendations For Genetic Testing: How Do I Make Sense Of It All?,” on Wednesday, December 19, at 5 p.m.
Peggy Cottrell, Sharsheret’s genetics program coordinator, and Dr. Beth Karlan of Cedars-Sinai will talk about the latest updates on genetic testing options and recommendations. Topics include the implications of direct-to-consumer testing for people with Ashkenazi ancestry, how genetic testing impacts the use of PARP inhibitors for women with metastatic breast cancer, and the newest guidelines on being a candidate for genetic screening. Ms. Cottrell is also a certified genetic counselor in the Regional Cancer Center at Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck.
A Sharsheret peer supporter will share her own story; a question-and-answer session will follow. A transcript and audio recording will be available after the webinar at www.sharsheret.org. To register for the webinar and get log-on instructions, go to www.sharsheret.org or call (866) 474-2774.
