Steve Frankel, founding director of the Mikdash Educational Center, is the scholar in residence at Congregation Beth Aaron this weekend, June 3-5. Tonight at 8:45 p.m., he will discuss “Listen to the Echoes of the Mikdash, or When Did the Challah Blush.” On Shabbat afternoon at 3:30 p.m., children will have a chance to “build” a mikdash; at 6:55, Mr. Frankel will use the model of the mikdash to offer a virtual tour. Between Mincha and Maariv, he will look at “Where in the World is the Lost Ark?”
The Mikdash Educational Center’s goal is to plant the seeds of the mikdash in the hearts of Jews all over the world. Mr. Frankel was brought up in Queens, and graduated from Brooklyn College. He and his wife Mindy made aliyah to Kibbutz Beerot Yitzchak in 1976 and live in Chashmonaim.
