Shabbat at the inn
About 75 five families in Franklin Lakes and neighboring towns participated in Shabbat Inn, a program offered by Chabad of NW Bergen County’s Hebrew school to encourage at-home observance of Shabbat.
Each participating family received a guide book and challenge card with step-by-step instructions and a host of supplies and ideas to keep everyone engaged for the 25-hour marathon event, which began at sundown on Friday, February 5, and concluded at nightfall the next day.
The supplies box included a candle-lighting kit, a loaf of home-baked challah, two quarts of matzah ball soup, a kiddush cup, grape juice, a prayer book and activities for Shabbat, and a twisted candle craft and smores-making kit for the concluding musical, Zoom Havdalah. That program reunited everyone and ended with a raffle for sets of Apple earbuds for families who completed the challenge card in full.
