On December 6, at 11 a.m., Rockland Jewish Family Service will hold its annual Unsung Heroes brunch. This year, it will be virtual.
The volunteers and staff members worked hard this year to bring a level of normalcy to a far-from-ordinary time. They have shopped for people unable to leave their houses, they have delivered food to homes of people in need, and they have sustained the food pantry despite increased demand on it.
Honorees include Matthew Baldwin, Michael Berkowitz, Carol Blau, Dr. Michele Gorlitsky and David Blank, Abby Blank, Emma Blank, Daniel Dowling, Nancy Feldman, Nate Feldman, Chanalee Fischer (aka the Challah Fairy), Kassidy Gaviola, Melinda Levin, Galit Maayani, Kathryn Samalin, Ben Samalin, Dian Samalin, Eliana Samalin, and Marsha Silverstein.
The brunch also will honor the memory of Jason Weinger, z”l, 57, a special part of the RJFS family, who died of covid in May.
As a special gift to supporters within Rockland County, a kosher breakfast will be hand-delivered that morning. RJFS remains more active than ever meeting the growing needs of the community during this difficult time. Register online at rjfs.org/heroes.
