Respect limited by halacha

In response to last week’s letter, “Respect for gays in the Orthodox world,” any embrace has to be limited by Jewish law.

There are certain aspects of the lives of gays and lesbians that cannot be embraced by any Orthodox synagogue without surrendering its fealty to Jewish law. If that is deemed bigoted, so be it.
