Remembering Lone Soldier Max Steinberg
Max's parents look back on their son's death and talk about the overwhelming experiences they encountered.
As part of Israel’s National Remembrance Day, Voice of Israel Radio‘s Dan Diker interviewed Stuart and Evie Steinberg of Los Angeles. Their brave son, Max, was a lone soldier who fought during Operation Protective Edge in July 2014. He was killed in battle.
More than 30,000 people came to mourn Max at his funeral, although he was a newcomer to the country, with few friends or family members in Israel.
The first time Max’s parents were in Israel was to bury their son. The love and compassion they received from the Israeli people was overwhelming, unexpected, and comforting.
Listen to this moving interview and let us know what you think.
