Arona Berow will tell her personal experience with postpartum depression, and then psychotherapist Marilyn Laves will talk about the phenomenon from a more clinical perspective, on Sunday, July 15, at 7 p.m., at the Jewish Center of Teaneck. The program, “Postpartum Depression: Raising Awareness and Breaking the Stigma,” will explore causes of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, how postpartum depression differs from the baby blues, available treatments, and what we can do as a community to ensure that women do not suffer in silence.

Ms. Laves, who specializes in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, has worked in mental health and substance abuse fields for more than 20 years offering psychotherapy, clinical supervision, program oversight, and training.

Ms. Berow, a licensed social worker, is the Partners In Caring social worker for the Jewish Community Services program at the Jewish Board of Family and Children Services. For more information, go to JCOT.org.
