Rabbis Debate Moment of Death
Prominent halachic and medical experts continue debating the moment of death in an ongoing online symposium. On Sunday, two leading scholars of the intersection of Judaism and medicine published their views on brain death in the TorahMusings.com symposium on the ethics of brain death and organ donation. Rabbi Moshe D. Tendler, professor of Talmud and Biology at Yeshiva University, and Rabbi Yaakov Weiner, dean of the Jerusalem Center for Research: Medicine and Halacha, offered different views of determining death in a patient, respectfully disagreeing on this important issue.
