Rabbi Hanoch Teller discussed “The Holy Responsibility of Remembrance” as part of the Northern New Jersey Holocaust Memorial & Education Center’s educational series, at Congregation Rinat Yisrael in Teaneck. He talked about his book, “Heroic Children, Untold Stories of the Unconquerable,” to reinforce the importance of preserving the stories and memorializing the people who were killed in the Holocaust. The committee’s co-chair, Steve Fox, discussed how the Teaneck memorial will be a center for Holocaust education for all faiths. The outdoor memorial will use state-of-the-art technology to convey the Holocaust experience, and the Teaneck Library will have testimonies and virtual artifacts from local families. The center will work with schools on Holocaust projects.

The memorial’s chief architect, Alan Hantman, discussed the features of the memorial section and proposed renovations to the library to accommodate both the Holocaust Memorial & Education Center and one for enslaved Africans.
