Rabbi responds

Helen M. Ickowicz (Letters, March 23) misses the point of my March 9 article (“JNF Should Plant Trees, Not Uproot Families”) when she raises the red herring of the threat of “a ‘judenrein’ zone in Jerusalem” (“Rights Rejected” 3/22/12). Rabbis for Human Rights-North America is asking only that the Jewish National Fund end its policy of employing legal loopholes to transfer Palestinians from their longtime homes in east Jerusalem. As rabbis, we are committed to transforming Jerusalem – the City of God – into a place where the divine presence is felt. We hope that JNF will do its part by ending its transfer policy, which violates Jewish laws and Jewish values.
