Your June 24 editorial “In praise of non-partisanship,” faulted the Jewish Federations of North America for having John Bolton as a recent keynote speaker. You say that federations should not be “a host to partisan figures.”
John Bolton, however, has wide knowledge and experience of foreign affairs and has been a true defender of Israel and a strong voice for the United States at the United Nations. The fact that the Democrats opposed his appointment as U.N. ambassador does not necessarily mean that he is mistaken in his views. It is true that most Jews are Democrats, but this should not preclude hearing Bolton speak on the vital subjects that concern us.
