The Relay For Life of Paramus, a community fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, will host its annual kickoff celebration on Thursday, January 14, at 7 p.m., with a Zoom webinar and streamed on its Facebook page, Relay For Life of Paramus.
Topics include how people can register and become involved in the annual run, set for June. Leaders from the student-led volunteer committee will provide updates on planning, including fundraisers by local businesses.
Brooke and Brielle Distler, Paramus High School seniors, will be the “caregiver speakers,” talking about how they helped their dad as he battled cancer and the vital role that caregivers play. Diana Hoover-Sulewski, a 20+ year survivor, shares her personal experiences and also about her role in the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network.
Donations from the Relay For Life benefit the American Cancer Society to fund research and services such as the National Cancer Information Hotline.
Since the benefit began in 2013, it has raised more than $850,000. As of press time, this year it has raised more than $4,500 toward a goal of $85,000. For more information, go to relayforlife.org/paramusnj, search for #ParamusAttacksCancer, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
