The JCC of Paramus/Congregation Beth Tikvah held its annual Yom HaShoah program on May 5, which included a candle-lighting ceremony and a service led by Rabbi Arthur Weiner and Cantor David Krasner.

Michael Epstein, a longtime member, talked about how he survived the war. Mr. Epstein was born in Lodz; he went from Poland to forced labor camps in Siberia and eventually to the Displaced Persons camp in American-occupied post-war Europe. When he was 13, he and his family came to the United States to begin rebuilding their lives.
