Open house activities abound at Kaplen JCC on the Palisades

The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly holds a community open house on Sunday, September 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. Guests and members can sample classes, take part in the Thurnauer School of Music’s instrumental petting zoo, go on a moon bounce, and use the nursery school playgrounds and tumble room. There will also be a balloonologist, face painter, glitter tattoos, roaming entertainers, giveaways, and special one-day-only discounts. Current and prospective members also can enjoy the water park, gym, pools, and the adult and youth fitness centers.

Sample classes for children will include creative ballet, hip hop, pop-up stories, Broadway prep, CMEK (basketball) workshops, Stavri Tennis Academy workshops, art, kitchen science, Lego space adventures, youth yoga, music for youngsters, catchball, performance training, and more. Sample classes and demonstrations for adults will include Zumba, Pilates, demonstrations in the new performance lab, mini chair and table massage, and facial evaluations.

JCC representatives will be on hand to speak about JCC programs and membership, give guided tours of the facilities, and help with class registration.

The JCC also offers special promotion in connection with the open house. New members who join by October 31 will get $150 off membership; as an added incentive, if they join at the open house, they will receive an extra $50 in JCC cash. Special offers for personal trainings and Pilates will also be available.

Programs and facilities available to JCC members include two state-of-the-art fitness centers, outdoor water park, and pools, year-round indoor pools, more than 80 free group exercise classes, CPR-trained swim instructors offering lessons for people of all ages, a luxurious spa, free orientation and fitness assessment, basketball, racquetball and tennis courts, teen fitness center for 6- to 13-year-olds, early childhood center and nursery school, day camps, Thurnauer School of Music, School of Theater Arts, dance school, and cultural and learning programming for adults.
