Open Hearts, Open Homes in Tenafly
The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly hosted the Open Hearts Open Homes group at a program there last week. The Jewish Community Center of Northern New Jersey (formerly the YJCC) sponsors OHOH, a program that provides respite and comfort to disadvantaged Israeli teens victimized by terror and war who stay with local Bergen County host families during the summer.
Elana Prezant, a Kaplen JCC board member, sitting in front of the group, brought 22 teens and two counselors to the JCC to let then experience summer at the J.
The group of Israeli teens volunteered with children in the Neil Klatskin Day Camps, campers in the special services department, children in the JCC’s Early Childhood Center, and participants in the senior adult department.
