NJ Y Camps welcomes special guests
Last week, Doug Emhoff, the Second Gentleman of the United States — he’s married to Vice President Kamala Harris —toured the New Jersey Y Camps. Mr Emhoff, who is Jewish, grew up in Matawan and Old Bridge and is an alumnus of NJY Camps, where he spent four summers. Last Thursday, he returned to tour the camps, spending time with both campers and staff. He also met with Jason Shames, the CEO of the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey, and with Steve Silverstein of Woodcliff Lake, another NJY Camps alumnus. The federation is a major supporter of NJY Camps, knowing the lasting impact these experiences have on campers’ Jewish lives and believing Jewish summer camping to be one of the best investments in Jewish continuity.
