New Chabad emissaries at Wayne center

Rabbi Mayer and Chanie Gurkov and their children, Shmuli and Lana, have joined the Wayne-based Chabad Center of Passaic County. Rabbi Gurkov, who grew up in Wayne, is the son of Rabbi Michel and Chani Gurkov, who have been serving the Wayne Jewish community and the general Passaic County area for more than 27 years.

Rabbi Gurkov received his rabbinical ordination and bachelor’s degree from the Rabbinical College of America in Morristown. Ms. Gurkov has volunteered for Friendship Circle and in the Georgia and Colorado Jewish communities.

In Wayne, they will expand Chabad’s activities in all areas, focusing on youth and teen involvement. They will direct the future Chabad preschool, which is in development, and will work together to bring Jewish awareness and heritage to all Jews in Passaic County.
