Traditionally, Temple B’nai Abraham annual Holiday Food Drive kicks off at the Livingston shul. In the past, empty grocery bags and lists of items were distributed to the congregation; members brought the bags back full. This pandemic year, TBA’s social action committee created an exciting alternative way to help its neighbors.
This year, members donated funds so the committee could buy $25, $50, $75 and $100 Shop Rite gifts cards, which were presented to Livingston Neighbors Helping Neighbors, led by director Stacey Rubenstein. The cards were given to local families suffering from food insecurity. Some also were also donated to the Bobrow Kosher Food Pantry of Oheb Shalom Congregation in South Orange.
