The Bergen County section of the National Council of Jewish Women will install its new officers online at noon on Tuesday, June 15. At that same meeting, it will honor Charlotte Bennett Schoen with the Hannah G. Solomon award and life member Nanette “Nan” Matlick with the organization’s Woman of the Section award. Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg, the National Council of Jewish Women’s scholar-in-residence will give the invocation and New Jersey State Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg will be a special guest.
The speakers will include the chapter’s outgoing co-president Elizabeth Halverstam, its incoming co-president, Ina Miller-Silverstein, and its ongoing co-presidents Bari-Lynne Schwartz and Elaine K. Meyerson. Former president Joan Snider will install the officers.
The section will install 16 officers this year. Bea Podorefsky is continuing as honorary president, and Elizabeth Halverstam will become honorary vice-president. Lois Katz Brown, Joan Cooper, Fran Einiger, Marilynn Friedman, Joan Ornstein, Elizabeth Roditi, Joan Schnuer, Virginia Wasserman, and Linda Walden will be vice presidents, Aida Melamed becomes the new treasurer, and Norma Goldsmith will remain in her role as recording secretary.
