Commander Leo Rosenzweig and Vice Commander Louis Raiman of the Jewish War Veterans’ Post 536 visit the Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin to place flags on veterans’ graves every Memorial Day. A few years ago, they saw that a flagpole in the cemetery had fallen down and was damaged irreparably. In September, with a generous $900 grant from the Home Depot Foundation, a new flagpole was installed. The donation was made possible by Eric Reiner, assistant manager of the Home Depot in Freehold, who spearheaded the effort to get the grant from the Home Depot Foundation. Associates from Mr. Reiner’s store, including Nadia Christopher, Michael Emanuel, and Vincent Smith, installed the new flagpole. Ernie Diorio, the vice president of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 12 in Allenhurst, and the northeastern manager of the cemetery, Francis Stanley, also helped.

On October 14, the flagpole was dedicated with the help of JWV Post 536’s chaplain, Rabbi Nathan Langer; past JWV commanders Al Brown and Al Adler; State Ladies Auxiliary co-president Carol Adler; Ernie Diorio, and Eric Reiner.
