More about a cemetery
We have one correction and a comment about the article “About a cemetery” that appeared in your April 3 issue.
Correction: In the section “Adding leaves to the family tree” the article mistakenly states that “Morris Kalish’s store burned down…” The article should have identified the store as belonging to Morris Levine, my great grandfather.
Comment: We were truly surprised to read Barnert Temple’s account of their treatment of the cemetery. The few partial attempts to remove garbage, and the abandoned project to relocate the gravestones to Mt. Nebo cemetery, do not seem to fulfill the sacred responsibility a congregation has to maintain Jewish gravesites. We suspect that it is not a standard of care that the current congregation would deem adequate for their family resting places.
