Mitt and the Mormons
The Mormons believe people can be baptized after death and baptized hundreds of thousands of Holocaust victims until they agreed to stop the practice in 1995. However the practice continues and I find the church’s response very telling. “With deepest respect to our Jewish friends, the church cannot abandon fundamental aspects of its religious doctrine and practice,” it said, adding, “and it should not be asked to do so.” Presidential contender Mitt Romney, a Mormon, should denounce the practice. Baptism is a Christian ceremony which, as a Jew, I find repugnant and offensive.
