March Mega Food Drive returning
The Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey is bringing back its community-wide March Mega Food Drive on Sunday, March 25. The federation welcomes shuls and schools to participate by acting as a collection site for food items that will benefit five northern New Jersey food pantries whose shelves are low in stock at this time of year.
Families are invited to a program at the federation’s Paramus office that afternoon at 1 p.m., when the food will be sorted and packed so it will be ready to donate. A group also will assemble snack packs for kids at risk of hunger on weekends. A federation donor is funding 500 snack packs, and funds are being raised to provide 500 more. Each snack pack is $4.50; a challenge grant has been set up to reach that goal. Donating money for the weekend snack pack project is another way for families to be involved.
