A gala set for November 30 will feature the consul general of Israel in New York, Ambassador Dani Dayan, and will recognize MDA’s paramedic heroes, including Director-General Eli Bin.
American Friends of Magen David Adom will celebrate its annual MDA New York Gala at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan on Thursday, November 30, at 6:30 p.m. The gala will recognize the lifesaving work of MDA’s first responders in Israel.
It will honor Elie and Esther Katz with the Young Professional Leadership award and Kent Swig, a leading commercial and residential real estate investor in New York, with AFMDA’s Visionary award. Mr. Katz, a former mayor of Teaneck who now is its deputy mayor, and his wife, Esther, are avid MDA supporters.
Ambassador Dayan will speak, and television journalist/social entrepreneur Jessica Abo will host. MDA officials will include Director-General Eli Bin, Chief of Staff Uri Shacham, Chief Information Officer Ido Rosenblatt, and paramedic Yair Schussheim.
Proceeds will go toward MDA ambulances, emergency medical supplies, and the construction of its new Marcus National Blood Services Center. This state-of-the-art underground facility — the world’s first — will protect Israel’s entire blood supply from terror attacks and natural disasters while continuing to provide 100 percent of all the blood for the Israel Defense Forces and 97 percent of the blood used by Israel’s hospitals.
