Ma’ayanot’s annual Yom Iyun

Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for Girls’ annual Yom Iyun (day of study) will be held on Tzom Gedaliah, Sunday, September 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with inspiring shiurim by its faculty. The day is open to all.

Rabbi Zev Prince will give the keynote address, “Soles on Fire: Neilat Ha’Sandal, Baring Our Souls by Uncovering our Feet.”

Other shiurim by faculty include “Reading Between the Lines: The Kriyot HaTorah of Rosh Hashana as a Roadmap for the Yamim Noraim” by Rivka Kahan; “Gedaliah, Yosef, and the Daughters of Tzlafchad: Digging Deeper into Tzom Gedaliah” by Gabrielle Berger; “Synergies of the Season: Exploring the Interplay of Teshuva, Tefilla and Tzedaka” by Rabbi Donny Besser; “Does God Prefer the Teshuva of a Tzaddik or the Teshuva of a Rasha? The Case of Chizkiyahu vs. Menashe” by Suzanne Cohen; “Are our Fasts and Prayers Pleasing to God?” by Shiffy Friedman; “Unity through Separation” by Leah Herzog; “Seeking God: What the Fast-Day Haftorah Tells Us about Our Limitations and Aspirations” with Shifra Schapiro; and “Akeidat Yitzchak and the Sacrificial Life” by Yael Weil.

The Yom Iyun is sponsored by the Staiman family in commemoration of the yahrtzeit of Sholom Staiman, grandfather of Leora (‘05), Shifra (‘06), Atara (‘09), and Etana (‘12); and by Deena Yellin and Dr. Moshe Fuksbrumer and family in commemoration of the 23rd yahrtzeit of their sister, Judith Yellin, aunt of Meital (‘20).
