The Chabad Jewish Center of NWBC in Franklin Lakes recently hit the 1,000 mark for loaves of home-baked challah distributed to the community in the last eight weeks. The challot come packaged in a special gift bag for Shabbat, along with two quarts of matzah ball soup, a fresh rose, and a Shabbat candle-lighting kit. Each Friday, hundreds of local residents have stopped curbside at Chabad to be greeted by Rabbi Chanoch and Mimi Kaplan, who, along with their six children, cooked, baked, packed, and distributed the Shabbat packages to anyone in the community who wished to receive one. chabadplace.org.
