Temple B’nai Abraham in Livingston has had a long tradition of providing turkey and holiday fixings to many agencies that assist people in need. Despite the pandemic, the synagogue’s members generously donated funds and turkeys to aid others who are food insecure. It gave more than $700 in ShopRite gift cards to the Newark Emergency Services for Families, the organization that usually receives the bulk of the annual turkey drive. Janet Penn and Ruth Ross, the shul’s social action committee co-chairs. used the funds to buy and donate dozens of turkeys and fixings, including potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy, cornbread mix, string beans, mac & cheese, fruit, and desserts.
