Voting for the liar

Ari Berman needs some help in explicating some positions. In the seventh paragraph of his essay he states… “Some argue that they cannot vote for Trump because he is too unpredictable…”

How about: Because he is a serial liar and a sociopathic misogynist who tried to overthrow the results of the last presidenial election by force?

What happened to ‘Never Again’?

The various organizations in place to represent and protect our Jewish communities have had several months to plan their actions against the antisemitic, anti-Zionist and anti-Israel actions throughout the U.S. that took place many months ago, if they returned.  What have they done and what are they doing? To look at what is happening in many educational institutions, kindergarten to postgraduate, seemingly next to nothing was done. It seems as if it has just been a long weekend between what was and what is. If planning was done, what has happened to implement them? What are they doing to fight the demonstrations and attacks in our streets?

Why aren’t they instigating lawsuits and court cases? Why aren’t they suing in federal and local courts? Only through court decisions will worthwhile actions be taken. The demands that the administrations of institutions take actions are like turning back the tides with buckets. Students and outsiders are supposedly banned from illegal actions on campuses yet continue to do so. They were arrested, and charges were quickly dropped or dismissed. Students were suspended and prevented from completing classes, yet got credit for the classes and continue as if nothing has happened. It appears that this school year will just be a repeat of last year. Their lack of concrete actions just encourages all the anti actions.

Students are fearful of being on campus and attending classes, if they are of the wrong religion or supportive of the wrong country.  Teachers openly discriminate, but since they discriminate against the correct populace, they continue their employment. Those supporting Jews or Israel are openly targeted. It must end, but will it?

To many, we are back to the Germany of the 1930s. When will we return to liberty and justice for all? It’s time to get the lawyers to work and force the issues in our favor. Unfortunately, we are living the “again” in “never again.”

Trump Derangement Syndrome

Some recent comments published in the Jewish Standard accused Jews of having an illness called Trump Derangement Syndrome for not supporting Trump even though he did some good things for Israel while he was president.

Yes, Israel must be a major issue for every Jew when considering voting in elections, but there are other important Jewish values that should not be ignored.

How does a Jew support an arrogant, nasty, xenophobic, racist criminal who insults everyone and who is constantly lying about everything?

How does one support someone who tried to illegally stay in power by denying the votes of millions of Americans?

How does one support someone who wants to change American democracy to some personal autocracy?

How can a Jew ignore someone’s association with and support of Holocaust deniers?

How can anyone ignore someone’s opposition to woman’s personal health’s freedom?

I am a child Holocaust survivor with about 40 relatives living in Israel, whom I visited several times; who has lived several years under Russian rule and appreciates the importance of NATO; who has lived the American dream and loves this country; who has voted in 15 presidential elections over the last 60 years and feels that this is the most important one; who was a pre-Trump registered Independent and now is very worried about the future pregnancies of my engaged granddaughter and of my engaged grandson’s future wife.

So today I openly state that I have Trump Derangement Syndrome!
