The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly holds its 18th annual Lavish Lunches — it’s virtual this year and in the evening, not at lunchtime. The program set for Thursday, March 11, from 7 to 9 p.m., raises funds to support seniors in the community.
On March 2, the seniors whom the JCC supports were invited to the Mitzvah Lunch, also online; boxed lunches were sent to their homes. Tuvia Zimber the One Man Band entertained.
This year, the nighttime Lavish Lunches — the annual culinary experience that supports a broad range of programs and services for senior adults at the JCC — will feature three chefs from 100pleats.com, who will demonstrate Passover recipes. Each cooking demonstration will be followed by a Q&A with the chefs to make the most of this unforgettable experience. A VIP meet and greet with celebrity chef Franklin Becker will be included for sponsors at the master chef level and above. Jen Maxfield, an NBC reporter, will emcee.
Funds raised allow seniors to age in place and remain socially, mentally, and physically connected to the community around them. The JCC is dependent on donations and grants to ensure that these vital services continue. It does not receive any income from its senior participants.
Lavish Lunch sponsors include the presenting sponsors, Orly Chen Real Estate Re/Max Properties Plus, Englewood Health, Lorin and Jonathan Cook, and Brandi and Jed Rubin. The cordon bleu sponsors include the Kaplen Foundation, Shoprite, and Treeco Palisades Court. The master chef sponsors are Stephanie and Dan Cohn, the Dean Foundation/Francie and Stephen Steiner, the Kotlatch Family Foundation, the Levine family, Pearl Seiden and family, and Becky and Julian Singer. Connoisseur sponsors include Michael Epstein and Kiera Flynn, Michele and Daniel Ross, the Rubach Family, Jodi and Saul Scherl, Jillian and Adam Somberg, and Shelley and Ira Taub.
Brandi Rubin, Lorin Cook, Stephanie Cohn and Jillian Somberg are the Lavish Lunch co-chairs.
