What a wonderful article by Rabbi David Saperstein Dec. 18 in support of health-care reform. He stated his case so elegantly, referring to our Jewish tradition.

It is a very important issue and I was gratified to hear that Sen. Harry Reid reached an agreement after a long series of negotiations, giving the Democrats the 60 votes they needed to avoid a Republican filibuster and to pass the bill. The health-care debate went on too long and, as the saying goes, half a loaf is better than none.

I hope the new year brings us less rancor from our politicians.
