On Mother’s Day, Keep Rockland Beautiful celebrated Mother Earth and the organization’s 20th anniversary by staging a fun group event that raised nearly $10,000, which will support educational programs it provides throughout the year. Hundreds gathered at Rockland Lake State Park to try to create the longest yoga tree pose chain. The attempt was documented by drone photography and promoted on social media using the hashtag #MothersDay4MotherEarth. Local yoga instructors were on hand for warm up, stretching, and instruction.
The JCC of Rockland was among the sponsors. Keep Rockland Beautiful is known for coordinating countywide cleanups and hands-on environmental education programs for kids and teens. For information, go to keeprocklandbeautiful.org.
