The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly is registering for its JCC University, an adult education program that offers participants the opportunity to rekindle past passions, ignite new interests, meet new people, and stay involved in the developments that shape today’s world. Top professors and experts talk about topics including literature, art, film, science, psychology, and politics.
Enrollment is open for a four-session winter term. On January 25, Professor A. Tom Grunfeld, who has been to North Korea, returns to JCC U to discuss “The United States and North Korea — A Tense Relationship,” and Dr. Jeremy Dauber of Columbia will take on “Jewish Comedy: A Serious History.” On February 8, commentator psychiatrist Dr. Gail Saltz discusses “The Power of Different: The Link Between Disorder and Genius.” Will Friedwald, who has written nine books on music and popular culture, will talk about “The Great Jazz and Pop Vocal Albums.” On February 22, local author Seth Stephens-Davidowitz, a former Google data scientist and who now is a lecturer at Wharton, will discuss “Everybody Lies: What the Internet Can Tell Us About Who We Really Are,” and Professor Brian Rose will talk about “The Hollywood Star System.” March 8 brings Tobi Kahn, the renowned painter, sculptor, and art lecturer, whose full-day program is “Looking at Israeli Art.”
