JFCS of Northern NJ celebrates leadership and legacy at annual meeting

Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Northern New Jersey held its annual meeting on June 30 at the Young Israel of Teaneck, marking the close of the 2024–2025 fiscal year and beginning of exciting changes at the agency.
This year’s gathering honored the legacy of outgoing CEO Susan Greenbaum, while welcoming incoming CEO Evan Hochberg and President David Goodman.
The former board president, Sima Kern, spoke about the agency’s accomplishments over the past year, highlighting the resilience and dedication of JFCS staff, volunteers, and supporters in delivering critical mental health and social services across Northern New Jersey. The agency also bid farewell to outgoing board members Sarah Nanus and Paula Shaiman, recognizing their years of service and unwavering commitment. A new board of directors was installed including incoming member Lisa Berger. The board also recognized Michele Wellikoff, the agency’s Chief Development Officer, who is leaving JFCS for a new position, honoring her years of service and the lasting impact she made in advancing JFCS’s mission.
In a tribute to Susan Greenbaum ‘s 11 years of exemplary leadership, board member Shira Feuerstein spoke about her tenure and incredible impact within the organization and beyond. She surprised Susan with the establishment of the Susan Greenbaum Award for Excellence in Service, which, starting next year, will be awarded to a staff member yearly at the annual meeting. Susan Greenbaum shared her gratitude for serving as JFCS’s CEO, which she called a tremendous honor. Her legacy of strength, compassion, and dedication to the community will be felt for years to come.
Incoming board president David Goodman closed the program with an inspiring message about the agency’s future, leading to an introduction of new CEO Evan Hochberg. Hochberg shared his enthusiasm about joining JFCS, and his deep commitment to building upon the agency’s strong foundation of service. He will begin his role as CEO on July 14.
With a new strategic plan in place, renewed leadership, and a steadfast commitment to its mission, JFCS looks ahead to another year of expanding its reach and deepening its impact across Northern New Jersey.
